A midlands MEP is insisting he never used AI to compose part of an open letter he sent to the EU Commission President that contained Swedish House Mafia lyrics.
However Ciaran Mullooly accepts artificial intelligence was used to write the first half of the same email.
Mr Mullooly used the story of a young displaced and starving Gazan girl when writing to Ursula Von Der Leyen about the EU's role in ending the war in Gaza.
Without citation, the letter quotes lyrics from the band Swedish House Mafia in telling a fictional story.
The Independent Ireland rep says the idea to use the lyrics came from an email from someone in Palestine.
He says he understands why people might think AI was responsible for the song lyrics:
