Midlands MEP Warns Of EU Meat Price Collapse Ahead Of Mercosur Protest

Protests are taking place in Brussels today.

A Midlands MEP is warning of the "slow-motion collapse of farm incomes for the red and white meat industry" across Europe.

Ciaran Mullooly says he's dismayed at what he's describing as a cave in by European Parliament negotiators on Mercosur Trade Deal.

It comes as it appears talks will allowed future beef prices to fall by up to 8% before any intervention by the European Commission to suspend imports from the Mercosur region.

Farmers are staging a large protest in Brussels this morning to block the trade agreement.
