The service was set to close on Friday forcing customers to Abbeyleix Post Office.
A midlands community set to lose their post office have been gifted good news.
The existing post office in the Durrow will not be closing despite An Post having confirmed it was to shut it doors by the end of the week.
People in the town were told they would have to transfer to Abbeyleix by Friday.
However, following a breakthrough the Post Office will stay in its current premises before being moved to the Daybreak shop in Durrow.
