Outdoor trails and amenities in the region will benefit from the funding provided.
The midlands is set to receive €1.3 million in funding for outdoor projects.
The Infrastructure Scheme will see €692,750 allocated to Laois, some of which will be used to upgrade the walking and cycle routes in Durrow.
Lough Boora Discovery Park in Offaly will benefit from half a million euro in funding, while Westmeath has been allocated €113,400.
Some of that will see benefit the development of the Cycle Link from Dún na Sí to the Old Rail Trail
