A cross-party motion before the Dáil today is calling for a proper redress scheme for the survivors of Mother and Baby Homes.
A scheme, announced by the government last week, has been criticised for excluding those who spent less than six months in the institutions and has created "a hierarchy of suffering" according to Sinn Féin's Sorca Clarke.
The Longford-Westmeath deputy is urging all TDs to support the motion to ensure the needs of survivors are met.
She says the existing redress scheme is an insult to those who suffered at the hands of the State:
