Parents are finding it "nearly impossible" to enroll their children in primary school in a midlands town.

Portlaoise schools have recently reported having no space for new students in certain classes.

Population growth has been one of the common reasons suspected of causing the issue.

There are five main primary schools in Portlaoise, with more in the surrounding rural area.
