The Longford Westmeath TD is calling on the Tánaiste to recommend the barracks as the new headquarters for the Army.
Custume Barracks' central location makes it ideal to become the new Army Headquarters.
That's the view of Longford Westmeath TD Robert Troy, who's calling on the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence to make it happen.
A report by the Commission on the Defence Forces in 2022 recommended the development of a new HQ for the army.
