That's according to Kinnegad Labour Councillor Denis Leonard, with Councillor Niall Gaffney elected to the role of Mayor during a meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.
The Fianna Fáil rep succeeds Mick Dollard in the role.
