The HSE have made a statement to Midlands 103.
People in Westmeath are being told by the HSE they can't currently access plastic surgical services in the county.
In a statement to Midlands 103, the Health Service is confirming patients who present at the Regional Hospital in Mullingar do not currently have access to the services.
It comes after Westmeath woman Fiona Coffey highlighted her experience in trying to get treatment for her Father after he suffered a severe facial injury.
Doctors told Ms Coffey's family the Mater Hospital were refusing to accept a referral from Mullingar Hospital - with doctors in Westmeath telling the family to self-present in Dublin to get access to the required treatment.
The HSE says efforts to restore the service remain 'ongoing', and Midlands GPs are being contact to develop referral pathway options for the interim.
They're apologising for the inconvenience caused.
