Killeenmore's Micheal Feery recently had knee surgery in Spain as part of the EU Cross-Boarder Healthcare Directive.
Mr Feery, who works as a postman, was left waiting for over seven years to get the issue addressed.
'Healthcare Abroad' allows people to access medical treatment in other European countries that is fully reimbursed by the HSE.
He says he struggled with the pain for far too long but he's now on the road to recovery:
