Oxigen Under Fire Over Midlands Waste Facility Project

Rhode residents are coming together to oppose the waste company's plans.

Oxigen is being accused of a lack of consultation with locals in relation to plans for a new waste facility in the midlands.

A committee has been established in opposition to the development in Rhode, which is expected to process up to 90,000 tonnes of waste every year.

The proposed project is being criticised due to its proximity to Croghan Hill, and the increased traffic it would bring to the area.

The planning file has received over 100 submissions already, with that option available until October 17th - a decision on the development is due next month.

Chairperson of the Committee, Claire Murray Smale, has been telling Midlands 103's Kamron Clarke the group isn't happy about the way Oxigen publicised the plans:
