Pronouncing your words correctly is only part of the picture when it comes to dating, according to a midlands matchmaker.
Researchers in the US have found women are more interested in forming long-term relationships with English-speaking men if they pronounce the letter 'T' properly in words such as boat, boot, bait or but.
The Irish Dail Mail reports, the study at Pace University in New York involved 45 heterosexual women in their twenties who listened to voice recordings from 80 different men.
However Matchmaker with Love HQ in Mullingar, Mairead Loughman believes men and women apply more criteria to dating.
She says there are rules of thumb, but as with all things in life, there's plenty of exceptions too:
