A similarly planned project for Dublin is in doubt.
The State's handling of an Environmental Impact Assessment for a proposed large scale Asylum Seeker accommodation centre in Athlone has come under fire at a public meeting in the town last night.
It follows the High Court's decision this week to revoke the Department of Integration's ministerial order to develop a similar project in Dublin.
Athlone Councillor Paul Hogan attended the meeting in Athlone.
He says issues around the government's approach to Appropriate Assessment, and Environmental Impact Assessment reports, could result in an injunction to stop works on the Lissywollen development:
