Seven Food Businesses Ordered To Close Over Safety Breaches In May

A business in Westmeath has been handed a notice.

Seven food closure orders were issued during the month of May.

The Food Safety Authority served two notices under the FSAI act, one business is in Meath and the other is in Dublin.

Five more orders were served under European legislation, to businesses in Westmeath, Dublin, Carlow, Limerick and Tipperary.

Inspectors found evidence of rodent activity, including a rat carcass and droppings, an accumulation of waste bags piled at the side of a premises, inadequate cleaning and unsafe food handling practices.

A retailer at Fairgreen Shopping Centre in Mullingar, has been served its notice due to ready to eat food products being stored at ambient temperatures, an unadequate number of wash hand basins available and no hand washing facilities provided.
