He's become the country's youngest ever leader.
Simon Harris has been elected as the 16th Taoiseach of Ireland.
The final vote in the Dáil finished 88 Tá to 69 Níl.
Sinn Féin Deputies Sorca Clarke, Johnny Guirke and Brian Stanley, Aontú's Peader Toibín and Independent TD Carol Nolan were the midlands representatives who voted against Simon Harris.
At the age of 37, the Wicklow TD has become the country's youngest ever leader.
He says he is deeply honoured to become Taoiseach, and he will be a Taoiseach for All, a Taoiseach that will work every day to realise the hopes, dreams and aspirations of all our people.
When proposing Simon Harris as the next Taoiseach, Fine Gael's Deputy Leader, Heather Humphreys, reflected on meeting a new, youthful TD, for the very first time:
Sinn Fein Leader Mary Lou McDonald says it will be more of the same with Simon Harris.
She says the new Taoiseach has failed his way to the summit of Irish politics:
I am deeply honoured to become Taoiseach of this great country today.
