SIPTU are to meet with the Minister for Trade and Enterprise Simon Coveney today about the future of the workers at Tara Mines in Navan Co.Meath.
Union reps will be looking for a positive outcome from the talks concerning social welfare and other payments that could be on the way, as 650 staff are braced for temporary lay off's.
They are hoping a solution can be found to keep the mines in business to avoid a care and maintenance situation occurring.
