A group campaigning against the new SPHE Junior Cycle course say it will lead to confusion among children about their gender.
The updated curriculum covers areas including gender identity and sexual orientation, as well as the impact of stereotypes.
A group, led by the Natural Women's Council, staged a protest outside Leinster House this afternoon, calling for changes to the course.
Organiser of today's protest and founder of the Natural Women's Council, Jana Lunden, says the new course content is not suitable for young children:
