They were found to be compliant in 11 areas by a HIQA report.
"Approachable, kind and caring, and would do anything for you."
That's how staff at the Rehabilitation Unit at Regional Hospital Mullingar are being described by patients in HIQA's latest report.
The Health Watchdog's inspection of the facility on August 2nd last year found there was an adequate number of toilet and shower facilities, a communal dining and living room, a 'home from home' area, and a quiet room for family visits.
Patients told inspectors they were happy with the care they received, and had no complaints, but knew how to make one or raise a concern if neccesary.
The review of the unit focused on 11 health standards, of which it was found to be compliant in two, substantially compliant in seven, and partially compliant in two.
Inspectors say they weren't not fully assured the monitoring arrangements of the unit's performance were comprehensive, and there was no monitoring in relation to medication safety practice.
In order to improve compliance, the unit says the HSE's 'Test Your Care' plan will be implemented at the service, to measure nursing care metrics.
