The victim remains in critical condition.
A teenager has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Westmeath.
The incident occurred on Grove Street in Mullingar, on Saturday.
The victim, a man in his 30's, is currently in a critical condition in Beaumont hospital.
The male, aged 17, will appear before Mullingar District Court this morning.
Another youth arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge.
