It's saying the current deployment model is based around clinical needs.
The Health Service is standing over its National Ambulance Service model after pointed criticism from a Laois Senator.
Sinn Fein's Maria McCormack believes the service in her county, based on the single national dispatch centre model, is "dangerous, unsustainable, and is costing lives."
However the HSE says the National Ambulance Service will be recruiting additional staff across several service areas thanks to 8 million euro in funding this year, and 16 million for 2026.
The Health Service says the current deployment model is based around clinical need, not "legacy boundary" and is designed around international best practice.
