Thousands Of Farmers Descend On Brussels To Oppose Mercosur Trade Deal

Farmers are protesting in Brussels today over fears a proposed EU trade deal with South America will undercut their livelihoods.

Thousands of demonstrators, many arriving by tractor, are opposing plans to push ahead with the Mercosur agreement and to reform agricultural subsidies.

Ireland has yet to decide whether it will back the deal, with ministers saying farmers must be protected as negotiations continue.
