Laois farmer Bobby Miller believes tillage farming delivers value for money.
Farmers are doing their bit but they need more support as climate change continues to put tillage farming under pressure.
That's the message from the Irish Grain Growers as concerns the continuous wet weather will have an impact on the agri sector for months to come.
The State has a support scheme in place of a €100 per hectare however chair of the Irish Grain Growers, Laois' Bobby Miller says it's not nearly enough.
He says his sector is doing more for the environment than most:
Mr. Miller is also keen to point out that farmers need to work safely, despite the pressure they are finding themselves under.
Farmers say the persistent wet weather is effecting quality of their workload, costs, and supply.
They are also worried about the knock on effects it will have on livestock and crops for next harvest.
They are calling for more understanding from the public, and financial support from the Government.
