That's what Mullingar Chamber is saying after a new report by Fáilte Ireland showed over 76,000 tourism beds were under contract to the Government in June.
20% of beds in Offaly are contracted to the State - that's followed by 18% in Westmeath and 10% in Laois.
The state agency estimates tourism revenue loss could be between €700 million and €1 billion as a result.
But Mullingar Chamber's Spokesperson on Economic Development, Enterprise and Tourism, John Geoghegan says the picture isn't as dire for the midlands:
