The first meeting will take place later this month.
A social group for the trans community has been established in the midlands.
The group, launched by the Midlands LGBT+ Project, will provide an opportunity for people to share experiences and communicate with their peers.
38% of trans people in the region don't feel safe where they live, according to research carried out by the organisation.
Game nights, bowling and picnics will be among the activties on offer for members of the group.
The first meeting of the trans social group will take place in Athlone on the 27th of June.
Anyone interested can get in touch with the organisation at help@midlandslgbtproject.com.
