Tributes Are Being Paid To A Midlands Cervical Check Campaigner

A statement on behalf of her family described her as a "very special person".

Midlands cervical check campaigner Lynsey Bennett has passed away.

The 34-year-old was diagnosed with the disease in 2017, following the alleged misinterpretation of smear slides.

A statement on behalf of her family described her as a "very special person".

Speaking outside court after settling her case in 2021, she had this message for her daughters:

Campaigner Stephen Teap says he's overwhelmed with emotions at the shock of learning of Lynsey's death.

He lost his wife Irene to cervical cancer in 2017 and is a founding member of the 221+ Patient Support Group.

He described her as a beautiful person and mother, and says his thoughts are with her two little girls.

Her funeral will take place on Monday at 12 noon in St.John's Church in Longford.

The Longford woman passed away last night.
