A midlands childcare provider says some are struggling to get numbers back up.
The viability of the childcare sector in Ireland is largely dependent on the re-opening of schools.
A Department of Children survey shows 15% of providers are not re-opening.
Regina Bushell, MD of Grovelands Childcare in the midlands, says many creches are struggling to get their numbers back to normal levels - and rely on after-school care too.
Ms. Bushell - who's also chair of the Seas Suas representative organisation - says the funding model for the sector and other legacy issues need to be addressed.
She has this advice for parents as creches do reopen:
