Limescale can impact hair and skin as well as household appliances and heating systems.

That's according to Erin Leddy, Director of Aquabion Ireland, who says limescale build-up in homes and business attacks washing machines, boilers, plumbing and heating systems.

For every €1 spent using these appliances 1ml of Limescale in the system will cost €1.10 for the utility to work effectively.

Aquabion Ireland, is a distributor of Aquabion limescale converters, which offers a chemical-free approach to water treatment across Ireland.

The technology reduces limescale and corrosion without altering water taste or mineral content.

Mr Leddy says unlike traditional softeners, Aquabion works without electricity, salt, or maintenance, helping protect pipes and appliances long-term:

This comes as Stephen McDermott of Greenway Solar & Robotics believes the price has come down consistently over the last 4/5 years with available grants bringing the price down even more.

Most solar panels and PV systems have a 30 year warranty and pay for themselves with 6/7 years of installing.

Mr McDermott says it is also the easiest way for people to improve BER ratings on house:

Midlands 103 Home & Energy Expo 2026 is taking place on Sunday, 22nd February in the Tullamore Court Hotel, bringing together homeowners, self-builders and industry experts from across the Midlands.

Aquabion Ireland and Greenway Solar & Robotics will have stands on the day.
