The Festival Director says Mullingar is perfect for an annual festival.
The Westmeath Bachelor Festival is getting bigger next year to replace the gap left by the Fleadh.
It will include film screenings, busking, and novelty events like the Barman's three legged race.
The proposed five day festival will run from Wednesday 31st of July to Monday 5th August 2024.
The committee are planning to hold s Beef to the Heels Food Festival, which will see the town's restaurants compete against each other to produce a signature beef dish.
This will be judged by a celebrity chef and panel who will crown a local beef hero!
They will also crown the Pub of the Town through a number of novelty events, like a tug of war contest.
Mullingar's own Mardi Gras - A Mardi “Gar" will bring live music and Brazilian bands.
