A Westmeath man is heading to Slovenia to take on the country's most challenging peak as he pursues a lifetime goal of conquering the 'Crown of Europe'.
Fergal Hingerty is taking on the Triglav mountain in the Julian Alps to complete his 25th peak on a list of approximately 50 across the continent.

One of the biggest challenges of the Mullingar man's climb this week is the amount of 'via ferrata' climbing involved.
The technique involves climbing on rock face steel cables, ladders, and fixed anchors.
Mr Hingerty says while this Slovenian peak isn't the biggest he's faced, it's respected by seasoned climbers:
