A Westmeath professor is to sit on a United Nations Panel that will report on the possible effects of a nuclear war.
Dr Neil Rowan from Westlodge is a lecturer at TUS Athlone and will aid 20 other scientists around the world in examining physical and societal consequences of a nuclear conflict.
Their aim is to study the effects for two years and publish their findings through a report in 2027.
