Manchán Magan’s last book published weeks before his death.
A Westmeath writer has been nominated for the top accolade at this year's Irish Book of the Year Awards.
The September release of Manchán Magan’s Ninety-Nine Words for Rain (and One for Sun) occurred just weeks before the renowned writer and broadcaster died.
He is now up for the Irish Book of the Year, following the book's selection as best Irish-Published Book of the Year last month.
Books from Roisin O'Donnell, Joseph O'Connor, Grainne O'Brien, Andrew Porter and Sarah Corbett Lynch are also in contention.
The shortlisted titles were selected from the category winners at the An Post Irish Book Awards, where Mr Magan claimed this year’s overall prize.
