The government is being called on to refocus its spending on public transport infrastructure.
The call comes as a new survey revealed that the majority of Irish people are willing to swap private car use for sustainable travel.
The study, commissioned by the Department of Transport, found 77% of those interviewed believe walking, cycling and using public transport is more important than driving, for the benefit of the environment.
