The chain has stores in Athlone, Mullingar, Portlaoise, Tullamore and Edenderry.

Carphone Warehouse is closing its stores across Ireland including five in the midlands.

Over 400 redundancies are expected following the move.

The chain currently has stores in Athlone, Mullingar, Portlaoise, Tullamore and Edenderry.

The company say the move is necessary due to an accelerated change in the way people are buying and using their mobile phones.
