A meeting was held between the OPW, Laois County Council and residents took place to discuss the issue.
The residents of a Laois town are concerned over potential flood damage that could be caused by a Flood Relief Scheme.
That's according to Sinn Féin who say flooding in the Derrycloney area could lead to the pollution of the local water supply from septic tanks and farm slurry tanks.
A meeting between the Office of Public Works and Laois County Council took place to discuss the Mountmellick Flood Relief Scheme and ways to avert harmful consequences.
Laois Offaly Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley, who organised the meeting, says it was agreed that an in-depth study by engineers will be carried out to investigate the issue:
