The annual festival of traditional music was expected to attract 750,000 visitors to Westmeath next summer, along with an estimated €50 million boost to the local economy.
The town was also due to host the event this year, but that was shelved due to the outbreak of covid-19.
Organisers Comhaltas are now planning to hold a virtual 'FleadhFest' next summer instead.
