Over 30% believe they'll be renting for the next half decade.
Half of renters are paying more than 30 percent of their income on rent.
A report by Threshold also found just over one third expect to be renting for the next five years.
The majority don't want to be in the private rental sector, with 61 percent aspiring to own their own home by 2028.
When asked what might make the situation better, one Laois respondent called for lower rent prices to help her save money for a deposit for a house.
