The President of the IFA wants agriculture committee members in Leinster House to pressure their party leaders to act on its report on the Mercosur trade deal.

It follows a joint investigation by the body and the Irish Farmers Journal revealing unregulated use of antibiotics in Brazil's beef production.

The trade deal, estimated to represent a €50 billion boost to EU exports, will provision for the importation of South American beef into the European market for the first time.
