Laois Farmer Elected Vice Chair Of European Agri-Lobby Group

A Laois farmer is taking up a new role with a european agri-lobby group that represents 22 million farmers. 

Declan Hanrahan has been elected as the vice chair of the Copa-Cogeca beef group. 

The Borris-in-Ossory man says he'll be campaigning for beef farmers affected by the multi-billion euro Mercosur trade deal. 

The agreement will bring with it the importation of close to 100 thousand tonnes of South American beef into the European Union.
