The timeline for the much-needed project in Mountmellick, upon its completion, will be around 11 years, as a result of a number of delays in the early stages.
While the flood relief scheme in Portarlington is set to be finished by 2029.
Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys is committing to raising the scheme with Kieran O'Donnell:
The issue was raised in the Dáil by Laois Offaly Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley, who described the delays as 'crazy stuff.'
Deputy Stanley also urged for something to be done to cut the 'nonsense' out and shorten the timeline for flood relief schemes.
