Figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre show Laois has an incidence rate of 493.5 per 100,000 this week, and the 418 cases in the county amount for 2.5 percent of the population's positive tests.
Westmeath is substantially lower, with 325.6 cases per 100,000,
Offaly has the lowest incidence rate in the region, at 315.5 per 100,000.
There were 16,792 confirmed cases in Ireland this week, which is an increase of 31.3 percent on last week's figures.
