Mullingar's Tracey Monaghan is speaking out about a lack of guidance, support and sympathy from Gardai following the passing of her daughter Toni Marie Kenny.
She's made recommendations to change how the period up to an inquest is handled in Westmeath to the local coroner.
These include an automatically assigned family liaison officer to keep in constant contact with the family and for technology devices be examined immediately to deal with concerns of cyber bullying or violations of Coco's Law.
Ms Monaghan says families are left in the dark about what to expect in an inquest:
