Midlands Principal Slams SEC For 'Most Difficult Maths Exam In Ten Years'

Students were left feeling 'distressed' after Maths Paper One on Friday.

The State Examinations Commission is under fire from a midlands Principal, after what's been described as the 'most difficult maths exam in ten years.'

Leaving Cert students sat Maths Paper One on Friday, with many feeling 'distressed' and believing the test was 'difficult to the extreme.'

Principal at Moate Community School and former Maths Teacher, Tom Lowry, has written a letter to the SEC, and says the questions were 'obscure' and 'tough to interpret.'

He's accusing the Commission of being out of touch:

The former Maths teacher also says students who sat 'the most difficult maths exam in the past ten years,' will have done much better than they think.

Some  students were feeling 'physically ill' ahead of Paper Two this morning.
