It's a massive project for a local club and expected to draw huge attention to the region.
The midlands is set to become home to Ireland's newest indoor tennis dome.
Work is already underway at Athlone Tennis Club's new base, next to the Regional Sports Centre, on three new outdoor artificial clay courts, with a dome planned for phase two to make the courts playable all year around.
It's a massive project, that's likely to also help drive inward investment to the region, according to club rep Pat Conway.
The development comes with a price tag of well over €1 million and Pat says they're now reaching out to the public for financial assistance for the first time.
The club is holding a raffle on July 10th. Tickets are €20 each or three for €50, with a prize of €5,000.
