The Department of Education announced the successful applicants this week.
A midlands special school is among the successful applicants to national sustainability grant programme worth over €500,000 nationally.
Kolbe Special School in Portlaoise is to be granted just over €2,700 to construct a polytunnel with raised beds for wheelchair users.
After a long struggle, work has commenced on a site in September for a new building to house pupils in the school.
Two more Laois schools are in line for a sustainability grant.
Scoil Bhríde is set for €5,000 for raised beds, and Scoil Naomh Abban is getting €5,000 for an active wildlife walkway.
