The World Ploughing Contest - which Laois was also due to host this year - has been cancelled too.
The National Ploughing Association has cancelled the trade exhibition at this year's championships.
The event normally draws a crowd of about 300,000 people and was due to take place in Ratheniska, Co Laois, in September.
The World Ploughing Contest - which Laois was also due to host this year - has also been called off.
Organisers say it's a 'massive disappointment', but the decision was taken to due to uncertainty about what covid restrictions will be in place at that point.
In a statement this morning, the NPA says:
"We are making plans again to “Focus on Ploughing” from 15th -17th September online which will include exhibitor blurbs/competitions – interviews – videos and even some footage of product promotions and demonstrations.
"The anchor activity “we hope” will be the actual National Ploughing Competitions over the 3 days from which we will have live links and in between remind our followers of the type of products and services they would be accessing at the ploughing."
Assistant Managing Director, Laois' Anna Marie McHugh, says they had no choice but to cancel the exhibition and international event:
