The development which runs from the Athlone Greenway to Garrycastle was granted full planning permission from An Bord Pleanála in June 2021.
576 homes were promised - with 172 of these houses being offered up as social housing to the local authority.
The original developer went into liquidation which has majorly delayed the project.
