A new Garda unit tasked with investigating sexual offences, child exploitation and domestic violence began operating in the Westmeath/Meath division today.
The Divisional Protective Services Unit will also assist in sex offender management.
They've already been integrated into the Laois/Offaly division since last Monday.
In total, 27 units incorporating 320 Gardai will be part of DPSU operations in Ireland.
