Work is progressing on the construction of a new base for Waterways Ireland in the Midlands.
The new Grand Canal Craft Centre of Excellence at Cappincur in Tullamore, is expected to be operational by June 2026 and will replace the long-standing Tullamore Harbour depot.
Waterways Ireland is responsible for preserving 350 km of man-made canals, monitor and repair 348 bridges, 157 locks and 56 weirs, and have over 350 staff.
