Over 2,000 Patients In The Midlands Awaiting Hospital Services

Over 150 have been waiting over a year.

Over 2,000 people in the midlands are waiting for hospital services.

New figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show 157 of those have been on a waiting list for more than a year, with 50 exceeding the 18 month mark.

Of the total figure in the region, 136 are children.

Overall, nearly 500,000 people were on Active Waiting Lists beyond the Sláintecare maximum target in May, an increase of one percent when compared to April.

The NTPF says progress under the Waiting List Action Plan is running 'ahead of schedule,' but has been offset by higher-than-expected additions to waiting lists.
