A Westmeath school principal says it's been a 'long campaign' to ensure better road safety measures-after a number of near misses in recent years.
It comes as seven schools across the Midlands have been named in the third stage of the Safe Routes to School scheme.

Emo National School and St Fiacc's National School are the two schools joining in Laois.
While in Offaly - Edenderry's Oaklands Community College and Colaiste Iosagain in Portarlington have made the list.
The other two schools in Westmeath are Cluain Maolain National School, and Columba College.
